Makita HP457D Cordless Drill Review

This is our review of the Makita HP457D cordless drill. This high quality drill comes with a 3-year guarantee. On average it costs around £150 and along with the drill you get two batteries, a charger and a carry bag to hold the bits and pieces.

This is, as you can see from the image above, a complete drilling and driving kit. Initially i and around £130 may seem a little expensive. It is however worth pointing out, that you will own a very high quality and powerful drill/driver.

Along with that you also get two of the much better style of Lithium Ion batteries, a fast charger, an accessory kit with 101 individual pieces, and a canvas carry bag. If you were to buy these all individually, you would be paying a great deal more.

Benefits of Buying the Makita HP457D Kit

You will almost always find that buying a kit is always better value for money. In this section of my review, I want to try and explain what I think the real benefits of this one are.

A High End Brand -  Makita have an excellent reputation for making great tools. It is not very often that you hear any of their products getting poor buyer reviews.

Good Quality Battery - Many cheaper options use the older NiCad style batteries. That is in fact what makes them cheaper to buy. Lithium Ion batteries hold their charge longer, and are faster to charge.

With this kit you get 2 batteries and a fast charger, which can charge a battery in one hour. That means you can keep working on one battery and charge the other one.

A Carrying Bag - Often not appreciated as much as they should be. The bag is really useful as it simply keeps everything in one place. The bag is also slight and yet tough and durable. For me a bag is always better than a hard plastic case.

Buyer Satisfaction

Buyers have used this Makita kit for a variety of reasons, the most obvious being drilling into wood, plastic, metal and even masonry. The fact that is also acts as a cordless screwdriver makes this a useful kit to have around.

Buyers also said that this product was very well engineered, and the all metal gear construction means it is built to last.

The single sleeve keyless 13 mm chuck does make changing bits a very fast and simple process.

The only real buyer complaint was that it didn't have an LED work light, which of course would have been a very useful feature.
