Please note the GB at the end of the model numbers means it is suitable for use in the United Kingdom.

This model is available at Amazon UK and in other online stores and the High Street. The reason for its popularity is that first of all it is a high quality tough and strong hammer drill.

That just means that it is well made, tough and built to last. What makes it even better is that it is a complete kit so you get the drill/driver, 2 batteries, a charger and a solid hard case to store everything inside and protect it.

Just below we take you through the key features of this kit and explain each feature and what they are used for. There are any number of hammer drills on the UK market. What makes this one stand out from the others is the overall value for money. Batteries can cost around £40 each when bough separately, the charger costs around £35, the drill/driver around £60 and the case around £30. So when you add all of those up separately they would cost around £200 but when bought as a kit, you get it for around half of that price.

The good news is that you also own a set of Black & Decker 18V batteries and a charger which can then be used with any other compatible Black & Decker power tools such as circular saws and garden strimmers. It means you just need to buy the tool only as you will already own the batteries and charger.

Black & Decker 18 V Cordless 2-Gear Combi Hammer Drill with Kitbox UK Review

Overall this is not as good as the top of the range hammer drills made by brands such as Dewalt or Makita. That said, for most home owners this will be good enough, and you pay about a third of the cost. So this is going to be your main decision. In our opinion the drill won't let you down for the main jobs around the home that you have to do from time to time.

It is light and compact so good to work in restricted spaces such as cupboards. The speed and gear controls allow you enough control for drilling or driving through different materials.

If you plan on using this type of hammer combi drill on a regular basis or for bigger projects, then you should consider upgrading to something more powerful and a brand such as Dewalt or Makita.

BDCHD18K-GB Kitbox

It is always a great idea to have a box that can hold the various bits and pieces. It is somewhere safe to store your drill, batteries and charger when not in use. That majority of buyers also like this and say that is well made and everything fits in easily.

It is standard for this type of power tool, made from a hard ABS plastic with snap handles to keep it shut tight.

BDCHD18K-GB Batteries and Charger

As we have mentioned this model uses an 18V Black & Decker battery. There are 2 of these supplied which means one can be charging while the other one is being used. It's always a great idea to have 2 batteries.

Battery Ah Rating

The Ampere hour rating (Ah) refers to the battery capacity and with this model that is a 1.5 Ah battery. Black and Decker also do 2.0 Ah, 4.0 Ah and 5.0 Ah batteries.

The 1.5 Ah battery supplied will last on average for around 2 hours. Just be aware that can vary depending on exactly what you are using the drill for. For example drilling through brick drains the battery faster than driving in a few screws.

If you want a longer battery life you can always change up to a higher capacity battery. Most drill/drivers work really well on a smaller and lighter 1.5 Ah battery.

Black & Decker 18 V Cordless 2-Gear Combi Hammer Drill with Kitbox Summary

This model is available at Amazon UK and is in our opinion very good value for money, and will be suitable for anyone who needs to do various tasks around the home and garden.

It isn't suitable for SDS drill bits and isn't a professional drill/driver, but it is a good choice for the average DIY person around the home.

It doesn't come with any drill or driver bits so you will need to already own these or be prepared to buy those.
