Bosch PSB 1800 VS Bosch PSR 1800
What's The Difference?

When manufacturers release different models of drills into the market, those model numbers can be similar, and often cause confusion. One of the questions I get asked a lot by visitors to my website is, "What is the difference between the Bosch PSB 1800 and the Bosch PSR 1800?

QUICK ANSWER

The quick answer is the PSB 1800 is a cordless drill that can be used to drill through wood, metal and masonry as it has a hammer function.

The Bosch PSR 1800 is a cordless drill/driver and can be used for drilling and driving into wood and metal. It can NOT be used to drill masonry. As a result the PSR 1800 is usually a little bit cheaper to buy.

There are other small differences, which I have shown below but this is the main one. I have done a comparison table below so as you can see all the differences.

You can see why there might be confusion as aside from the masonry drilling capability, there is not a great deal of difference in these two models of Bosch drills.

There are slight differences in the size and weight, but not a great deal of difference.

Buyer Ratings for Each Bosch Model

Below I have also included the buyer ratings for each model. There are many reviews for these models online, and the information provided below, is a summary of the reviews from the many online websites who sell these.

BOSCH PSR 1800

It is worth noting that in the two offers shown above from Amazon that the PSB 1800 comes with 2 batteries in the deal, and that alone makes the PSB model a much better choice.

The PSB 1800 is also the biggest seller by quite a distance.

Hopefully that clears up the difference between the two models. The easiest way to remember this is that if you have decided on one of these two models, then the PSB model will allow you to drill through any material.

The PSR will not allow you to drill masonry.

Both models are from the German brand Bosch and both are very good quality. With either model there is a 1 year warranty. They both take an hour to charge the battery and they are compatible with most drill bits.
